Classes Offered 2021-2022

Tech Theatre

This is an elective Fine Arts class offering beginning instruction for technical elements of theatre. Students will learn about sound, lighting, set design/building, back stage assistance, and house management. This course will offer hands on experience and require students to work several shows after school.

Acting

This course offers students the opportunity to study acting methods and games to enhance the students knowledge of theatre. This course does not have any after school rehearsals. Students are expected to perform in front of the class which will give the student more confidence with public speaking. All areas of theatre will be discussed such as Technical theatre, house management, Stage management, makeup and costumes. This is an entry level class.

Advanced Drama

This course offers students the opportunity to study acting methods and games to enhance the students knowledge of theatre. The course involves performance opportunities and some after school rehearsals are required. There will be a show that is produced out of this class. Students will prepare monologues and scenes for performance in front of the class. Acting methods are discussed at the advanced level. All areas of theatre will be discussed such as Technical theatre, house management, Stage management, makeup and costumes. This is an upper level class.

Musical Theatre (2 sections)

This course introduces the style and characteristic elements of modern musical theatre. This is a course in musical theatre history and performance. The course deals with the exploration and study of musical theatre through acting, singing, and dancing. It also aids in preparation for audition. It explores a variety of genres and styles to help students gain a well-rounded perspective. This course is performance based and some previous singing or acting experience is suggested. This class is a performance class and each student is expected to attend after school rehearsals and performances.

Our Teachers

Ryan Wason

Director of Chorus and Musical Theatre

Mr. Wason is the Director of Chorus at Lambert High School and serves as the Music Director for the Acting Troupe of Lambert. Mr. Wason is currently in his 14th year of teaching and has taught at all grade levels. Currently, Mr. Wason teaches Choral Music, Music Theory, AP Music Theory, and Orchestra. Choruses under Mr. Wason’s direction have been very successful, receiving superior and excellent ratings in performance and sight-reading in the Large Group Performance Evaluations for both the Ohio Music Education and Georgia Music Educators Associations. Outside of teaching, Mr. Wason has enjoyed performing in and directing plays and musicals, most recently music directing The Addams Family and Thoroughly Modern Millie here at Lambert. Mr. Wason enjoys spending time with his wife Jeney and their daughters Ella and Daphne and their dog Artie.

Carly Berg

Director of Theater Department

Carly has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Brenau University in the Gainesville Theatre Alliance training program. She has performed in over 50 productions including several lead roles in professional theaters, schools, and community theatres. Carly also has a strong passion for children’s theatre and finds working with children to be personally rewarding. She enjoys helping children build their self confidence and talents on stage. Carly has directed or choreographed more than 40 children’s theatre productions and always strives to be an excellent role model for her students. Previous directing or choreography includes: Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, Holly Children’s Theatre, Lumpkin County H.S., Johnson H.S., North Hall H.S., Dawson County H.S., Dawson County Arts Council, Mill Springs Academy, Wauka Mountain Elementary School
